The First Day of School Initiative is a national model which generates widespread support for education. This initiative is a community-wide celebration of education that encourages parents to take their child to school on the first day, asks businesses to support parents by giving them time off to get involved in their child’s education, and enhances public engagement in our schools.
Our goal is to ensure that students are able to start school with the resources necessary to participate fully in the learning process and provide a great start to the school year. The Festival provides school supplies, healthy snacks, entertainment, aquarium tours, boat rides, and information on student support services at no cost to attendees. This event is a wonderful way to unite the community around an important cause.
