Each concert presents light classics of the venerable St. Cecelia Society; music of the Civil War sung and played on authentic period instruments; gospel spirituals song by the slaves as they passed through the port of Charleston; music of George Gershwin, who wrote the opera "Porgy & Bess" while on a working vacation in Charleston.
